Widening the Path for Female Leaders in Schools

"Oh, you're the principal? I thought it was your husband!" It was the parent of a student who I taught only one year ago. Less than that, even! My husband is a brand new teacher and this parent knew that. How could that make sense? I always assume positive intentions. Even still, it hurt. I don't remember how I responded in that moment but I clearly remember the disappointment I felt in that moment. On the other hand, it has grown my determination to normalize females in leadership roles!

My name is Jill. I'm the principal of a school in South Korea. Even though we only have 57 students, those students are across 14 grade levels! My days are busy but full of excitement, challenges, and growth. I'm only in my second full year of being a principal and I love my job. It's helped me see education from a different perspective and challenged me to find innovative ways to support our community.

This blog is intended to be my contribution to the school leadership world. I want to share stories, inspiration, and my experience in the world of international leadership. Do you have something you want to contribute? Send me a message and share your idea! The more experiences we share, the more wisdom we can soak up from each other!
